As a student at the University of Arts and Design, you may have access to additional educational development opportunities beyond your enrolled coursework. These opportunities are offered based on faculty and staff availability and institutional resources. These are available during semesters in which the student is actively enrolled. Additional educational development opportunities may include the following.

  • Student-Led Meetings: Student Led Meetings are held monthly as online sessions open to students at all program levels. These meetings provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and peer engagement within a shared online environment.
  • Monthly Library Meetings: Monthly Library Meetings are held as online sessions that provide students with guidance on using University library resources, conducting research, and locating academic and professional reference materials. These meetings support student success by reinforcing research skills and effective use of institutional learning resources and our run by the University of Arts & Design Librarian.
  • University Kick Off Meetings: University Kick Off Meetings are held at the start of each semester as one hour online sessions open to all students. These meetings introduce key trends, highlight developments in the creative marketplace, and outline institutional updates and expectations to help set the direction and pace for the semester.
  • Virtual Conferences: Virtual Conferences are typically held at the beginning of each semester and provide a four to five hour online professional development experience for students and faculty. These conferences focus on current industry challenges, emerging trends, software and technology updates, institutional announcements, and practical business topics relevant to the creative fields. Sessions may include presentations, demonstrations, and discussions led by faculty and industry professionals. Virtual Conferences are designed to support ongoing learning, foster community engagement, and provide timely insight into developments affecting the arts and design professions.
  • Design Your Life Podcast: The Design Your Life Podcast is a weekly educational podcast that supports student learning through discussion of design principles, current market trends, and professional practice in the creative industries. Episodes include instructional content related to design and creative business, as well as interviews with designers, artists, and industry professionals. The podcast is intended to motivate students, reinforce concepts introduced in coursework, and provide insight into contemporary creative careers and evolving industry expectations. This podcast is hosted by Dr. Carina Gardner.
  • Quarterly Craft Alongs: Quarterly Craft Alongs are collaborative creative sessions held in partnership with Dr. Carina Gardner’s broader creative communities. These sessions provide students with opportunities to build relationships, engage in shared creative activity, and network in an online environment.
  • Library and Resources Portal: The University of Arts and Design maintains a centralized Library and Resources Portal that provides access to our JSTOR Library, student success videos, research and writing guides, and additional academic support materials.
