Optional Faculty-led Travel Experiences

Looking for a beautiful, art-filled experience for credit? Our Faculty-led Travel Experiences take UAD students to the places where art and craft traditions were born. Many of these experiences help students learn directly from working artisans and see the work in person.

Each travel experience is offered as a special section of a regular UAD course. You earn the same credit as the standard online course, completed through travel-based learning.

How it works

  • Before you go: You’ll complete online coursework introducing the techniques, materials, and ideas you’ll explore on the trip, then submit a project proposal.
  • While you’re there: You’ll take part in hands-on workshops, museum and site visits, and studio time. You’ll document everything in a process journal and activity log.
  • After you return: You’ll complete a final body of work and written reflection, submitted and assessed online.

Is travel required?
No. These experiences are optional. Most travel courses are also offered as a standard online section with the same credit and learning outcomes. Travel-only electives can always be replaced with another elective in your program.

What’s included
One price covers your tuition plus lodging, workshops, and admissions. Airfare, meals, and travel insurance are not included. Payment is divided into three scheduled installments.

Not a student?
Friends and family may join select trips as non-credit travelers. Because seats are limited, non-credit travelers pay the same price as enrolled students.
