Font Design and Innovative Typography

About This Course

In this course, students will design and analyze functional fonts using Adobe Illustrator and the Glyphs App. This class is ideal for those passionate about the intricacies of alphabet and letter design. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own custom fonts and dingbats, honing their skills in typography and digital design. (3 semester credit hours)

Prerequisites: DES 504
Required Software & Books
  • Adobe Illustrator
    Software — Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Glyphs App or Similar Font Software
    Glyphs only Works on Mac/Apple Products (Please use Parallels for a PC) or utilize PC font software like BirdFont
  • Tracing Paper & Pencils
    • Optional
      Procreate and Illustrator on the iPad
